Boise National Forest
The project area is located entirely on National Forest Lands, approximately 20 miles north of Crouch, Idaho. Stream banks upstream of the Silver Creek Plunge have been impacted and eroded due to large numbers of forest visitors trampling the banks, past grazing practices, and sediment load fluctuations in the system. Through the use of educational signs, fences, channel revetments, and planting, it is possible to accelerate the recovery of these stream banks.

The Emmett Ranger District completed this project in 1999 and 2000 as part of a larger Chief’s Stewardship Award. The decision to implement the whole project was signed in December 1998 and also includes an interpretive handicap-accessible trail with bridges, fishing points, and two handicap-accessible vault toilets.
