"The House of the Great Spirit", Old Mission State Park, Cataldo, Idaho. |
|
| This is one of Idaho's oldest standing buildings. It was built in the 1850s by Jesuit Priests and Coeur d'Alene Indians without the use of nails. The walls were constructed with the "waddle and daub" technique.
In 1993, we produced a multi-media presentation describing the history of this site. This program is permanently installed in the theatre for visitors to view. A VHS video tape of this 20 minute program is also available for purchase. Produced for the Association for the Preservation and Commemoration of the Cataldo Mission and Idaho Parks and Recreation, this program was funded in part by a grant from the Idaho Humanities Council.
